First Solid food!

Today, we decided to start his first solid food...rice cereal. Nolan had been watching us intensely when we eat. He even mimic the chewing. Needless to say, we were really excited to feed him.

He did so well! He actually was really into it. We had to just stop because he never showed any sign that he wanted us to stop.

He also took his first sip of water today...in a sippy cup! It was a very exciting 1st! :)

A lot of first...

October just finished and November just started but it already had a lot of first for Nolan....

To start, Nolan started his first swimming classes at the beginning of Oct. He was hestiant at first but now I think he is starting to enjoy it. This past Sat, he actually was "swimming". Sara's son Noah is also in the class. They were so cute. :)

He also rolled over for the first time completely at daycare. This picture was taken right after he rolled to his tummy. Since then, he has now perfected the art of rolling himself over, fully swaddled, during sleep.
Nolan's first Halloween. He was a dinosaur. He was so cute!

He turned 6 months on 11/6. He is such a little boy now!
This is Nolan at 2 months.
This is him at 6 months on the same blanket!

Time flies.....

It's been too long...

It's been over 3 months since we posted. A lot had happened during these three months...changes...definitely busy. Good part was that Nolan got to spend a lot of time with my family. He also got to meet his cousins Tyler and Chloe.

He also got to hang out with his cousins Byron, Elyse and Jayden as well as Charlotte.

He also got a lot of hang time with his uncle Ken, Aunt Jenny, Great Aunt Romie, 8E, 6E. He also met my best friend Jane and attended her wedding in Philly.

Busy June...

This has been a busy month for us. It included our first "camping" trip, intentional smiles and interaction from Nolan, night sleeping in the bassinet, 8 weeks birthday (weighing in at almost 11lbs!), hanging with other mommies and babies, and finally getting a better hang of things with Nolan.

For our first camping trip, we went with our friends Tim & Maria, Jim & Karen, Paula & Paco and all their kids to Kan-Nee-da for Father's day weekend. Well, ok, not really camping trip but more like one night in a Teepee and 2 nights in the lodge. Either case, it was the first us. Since Nolan was still only sleeping in a swing exclusively, we had to bring it with us. It is definitely different packing for a baby. We no longer worry about what we bring for ourselves. Instead, it's all about what Nolan needs or might need. It was a great weekend of hanging out with friends. Matt got to go kayaking, golfing and swimming. Nolan and I got a lot of time to hang out. Our friends were great in helping with him. He is such a snuggler too. All in all, it was a great trip.

Nolan and I hung out in the Teepee .

We went to the Salmon baked where they had Indian dance. Our friend Maria's son, Tomas, LOVED to dance so they went out and danced :)

After we got back from KanNeeda, we decided that it was time to get Nolan to sleep in the bassinet in anticipation of our trip back East in July. For the first night, it didn't go too well since we decided to do that the night when we got back where he is overtired. Nolan cried for about 1 hr so we ended up having him sleep in bed with us for that week on top of a changing pad. The following week, we decided to try again. This time, we made sure he had enough naps during the day. When we put him down, he fussed for about 30 mins and went fell asleep! Since then, he had been sleeping by himself in the bassinet. He still fussed a little but nothing too bad. Our little boy is growing up!

Say goodbye to the swing...at least at night...he still sleeps there during naps
During the past two weeks, he had also been smiling a lot. These are real smiles, not the type where he unintentionally smiling. He has also been making a lot of cooing sounds and really interaction with us. His smiles just melt our hearts. He is a really great little boy. He is also developing great neck strength. He can now turn his head from one side to another while on his tummy! It takes a lot of effort on his part but he is slowly getting there.

We also had Nolan hang out with some new babies a couple of weeks ago. There were 5 new babies ranging from 4 months to 7 weeks (at the time) where Nolan was the youngest. It was so cute having all the mommies and babies gathering at our house where the mommies were hanging out talking about challenges and all things babies. The babies were busy nursing & napping. In between all that, we had all the babies "gathered" and took a really cute picture. While the babies were hanging out, Una, my friend Tara's little girl, and Nolan briefly held hands! it was really cute. It was really fun watching all the babies interact. We are going to make this a monthly occurence.

From top going clockwise: Judah, Wyatt, Nolan, Una and London

This week also will be marking another milestone for little Nolan. He is going to be 2 months old tomorrow! Time is going by fast... Can't wait to go to his 2 months checkup and see how much he has grown!

Smiles and Birthdays

Today, Nolan Wai Wah Service became one month old. To celebrate, Mommy and Daddy took him out for his first public outing at Pad Thai kitchen. Nolan slept quietly while Patty and Matt pigged out on Pad Thai noodles and Mango Sticky Rice. It went smoothly and the owner took a break from feeding a squirrel on the outside deck to dote on Nolan for a while.

Patty and I have been working on the sleep/feeding schedule a bit and have been getting more rest(Me at night and Patty in the morning hours). Nolan goes out with me to run the dogs every morning in my "Man Womb," which is a wrap-around hippie baby carrier from Australia. It does not look masculine but allows him to conk out. This week Nolan has started realizing that the world smiles when you do. He's a little charmer.

Visit by Grandpa Tsang, Great Aunt Alice and Uncle Ken

My family came to visit and help us out this past week. It had been AWESOME!! My dad and aunt made some great Chinese food for us as well as great soup for me. They have also busy themselve in getting our house together. We pretty much just have to get up and eat and take care of little Nolan. My brother also help us put the final touches on Nolan's room. It's great to have a techy brother :)

This past week has been a little better at the same time a little rough since the lack of sleep is finally caught up with us. We are trying to catch up on sleep when he is. So far, Nolan has been pretty much eat and sleep. It looks like he has his fussy hour in the afternoon. For the most part, he sleeps pretty well at night once we rock and bounce him asleep. We are waiting for him to hit the 8 lbs mark again which he was close to it as of last Monday.
Anyway, it's always good to have families in town. We are going to miss them when they are gone :(

1st week home

Nolan at 4 days old

Nolan with Dad

Tired and elated all at once. It's amazing how the mind caves from lack of sleep. You want to run up to strangers and tell them emphatically, while grabbing their shirt collar, how you've just learned a successful way to burp your baby! You get the sense that if you did, you might be arrested. Still. . .he burps well and that is good.

Notes from the parent bubble.
